The guides are there to provide you a safe environment and to give you local insight to the history, wildlife, and historic monuments that are located in the area. The guides can either paddle with you or stay at a safe distance to give you the ultimate privacy.
Malaekahana is a special place. This bird sanctuary is one of our guide's favorite spots to kayak. Located on the north east shore this area is cooler during the summer months and is off the beaten down tourist path.  Near Oahu's fabled North Shore, Goat Island is a lush pancake of lava rock swarming with wildlife both aquatic and airborne.  The center of the island is a restricted hiking wildlife refuge because of the ground-dwelling birds raising their young here however hiking is permitted around the island. A hike around the island takes about 30 minutes depend on how much you want to explore. The beach located on the north side of the island is a gorgeous sandy crescent studded with coral formations and water shallow enough for kids to snorkel in. The center of the island is covered with high tufts of sea grass that shelter myriad seabird nests. High concentrations of birds can be observed nesting here. The south shore of the island is an enormous tidal shelf dotted by pools and teeming with life. There are urchins, sea cucumbers, colorful fish, and crustaceans in abundance, all readily available for careful examination.  The sandy beach located at the kayak launch site is a great spot for body surfing and kayak surfing. The area is excellent for snorkeling and the reefs here support lots of life. Turtles can be seen in this area as well as the occasional basking monk seal. In winter months Humpback Whales can be observed from the kayaks frolicking off in the distance.
